Cate’s girls tennis team was defeated by La Reina 14-4 in a Tri-Valley League match on Tuesday.
“All I can say is that La Reina is tough. We gave it our best and just got beat by a stronger team. Given the amount of tournament experience La Reina has, I’m very pleased with the way my girls played today,” said Cate head coach Trevor Thorpe.
Julia Gan won two of three singles sets en route to a solid victory over Natalie Greco. This was especially impressive considering that Greco is currently ranked as one of the top 400 tennis players in the nation. Thorpe noted that La Reina has multiple tournament players with rankings throughout its lineup.
With the loss, Cate falls to 5-4 overall and 3-3 in league play.
The Rams play next on the road versus San Marcos on Friday.
