Led by the superb effort in doubles, Santa Barbara defeated Ventura 13-5 in a Channel League match on Thursday.
The Dons, ranked No. 4 in CIF Division 1, won 8 out of 9 doubles sets led by Mackenzie Monroe and Hope Dalton who went 3-0 and Lexy Gulden and Brooke Morison who were 2-0. Brooke also teamed up with Eleanor Beeson to go 1-0 and Alexia Berton and Lily Hershman were 2-1.
“We were able to give some of our younger players a chance to start today and I am very pleased with how they competed. These girls have improved a lot this season and we are going to need them to contribute as the season progresses,” said Santa Barbara coach Greg Tebbe.
Mattea Kilstofte and Cade Sorensen went a combined 5-0 in singles.
With the victory, the Dons improve to 10-1 overall and 7-0 in league.
Next up for Santa Barbara is a road match versus No. 3 Campbell Hall next Wednesday.
