Santa Barbara High defeated San Marcos 13-5 in a Channel League girls tennis match on Thursday.
The Dons won 8 of 9 doubles sets led by the team of Marianna Alevra and Carolina Turri who went 3-0 on the day. In singles, Santa Barbara was led by junior Cade Sorensen who went 3-0 and Madison Hale who won both of her matches.
“I was especially pleased with the play of Mackenzie Monroe, Hope Dalton, Brooke Morison and Alexia Berton today,” said Dons head coach Greg Tebbe. “These players are going to be key for us as we continue through the season and gear up for the playoffs.”
Santa Barbara improves to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in league. On the other hand, San Marcos falls to 5-6 overall, 2-3 in league.
Next up for Santa Barbara is a match against Dos Pueblos on Tuesday. Likewise, San Marcos’ plays next is a non-league matchup versus Arroyo Grande.
