With the CIF playoffs around the corner, Santa Barbara High’s girls tennis team is playing some tough teams to prepare for the postseason.
The Dons scored an impressive 13-5 win over Beverly Hills on Monday. The Normans are the No. 2-ranked team in CIF Division 2. The Dons are fourth in Division 1.
“This effort is a great start to a tough week for us in which we play four ranked teams,” Dons coach Greg Tebbe said. Santa Barbara (12-2) is at Arroyo Grande on Wednesday.
The Dons dominated the doubles, winning 8 of the 9 sets led by the No. 1 team of Madison Hale and Cade Sorensen, who went 3-0 without losing a game.
“I was particularly impressed with our doubles teams. This is the best all around effort so far this season,” said Tebbe.
In singles, Summer Garrison had an impressive showing. She beat the No. 1 player from Beverly Hills by the score of 6-4.
“She is an excellent player and Summer showed great resolve by beating her 6-4. That win sealed the match for us,” said Tebbe.
