Carpinteria defeated Cate 10-8 in a Tri-Valley League match on Tuesday.
The Warriors were able to pull through en route to victory despite a very close match throughout. At the end of two rounds, the score stood at 6-6 (51-51 on games). After that, Keslie Bryant and Julia Gan traded 6-0 wins in singles respectively. This made the score 7-7 (57-57 on games).
“I know each of my girls gave themselves completely to this match, so while we are disappointed, we can be proud of our performance,” said Cate head coach Trevor Thorpe. “When you do everything you can and you still don’t come out on top, there’s nothing more to do than salute your opponent and start working towards a different outcome in the future.”
The Rams play next on Thursday versus Malibu. With a victory, Cate would clinch the final Tri-Valley League CIF playoff spot.
