For being the smallest schools in its division, Bishop Diego is getting respect from the voters of the CIF Northern Division football poll.
The unbeaten Cardinals (6-0) have climbed to No. 4 in the latest rankings. They are one of three unbeaten teams in the division. The other two are Paso Robles (7-0), top-ranked team, and No. 2 Lompoc (6-0). Once-beaten Newbury Park (5-1) is ranked third.
Bishop Diego will play its third intersectional opponent this week when it travels to 6-0 Reedley-Immanuel of the Central Section.
In the Western Division, Ventura is ranked fourth after its 44-7 rout of Santa Barbara. The Cougars play host to San Marcos on Friday night.
