Big first half carries Carpinteria past Rancho Christian

Fernando Martinez took a reverse handoff and returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown, and Carpinteria jumped on Temecula Rancho Christian for 28 points unanswered points in the first half en route to a 35-14 non-league football win on Saturday in Temecula.

The Warriors (4-2) capitalized on a couple of turnovers and led 28-0 at the half.

On the kickoff, Martinez took a handoff from Richie Gallardo and sped into the end zone to stun the Eagles.

Gallardo scored on a 60-yard run in the second half.
