Carpinteria and Cate battled to a split decision on Wednesday in a cross-country meet at the Carpinteria Bluffs.
The Rams won the girls competition 27-28 and the Warrior boys were the victors in the boys race 26-29.
Cate’s Charlotte Monke won the girls race with a time of 21 minutes and 30 seconds. Rei Imada’s third-place result was Cate’s best in the boys race. Imada ran in 19:08, followed by Dylan Ell’s fifth-place finish (19:48).
Cate is preparing for its first Tri-Valley League meet next Wednesday in Ventura. The Rams host Viewpoint on Saturday in a non-league dual meet.
