Less than 24 hours after its last match, the Westmont women’s volleyball team took the court again at Murchison gymnasium. Despite the quick turnaround, the Warriors were able to come out in full force to win a quick three-game match against Arizona Christian (25-13, 25-21, 25-16).
The Warriors came out on fire, blasting 14 kills in the first set. Senior Heidi Thompson ran a evenly distributed offense that resulted in every single Westmont attacker on the court tallying between two to four kills in the first game.
Senior Madison Serrano sparked an 11-2 run in the second set with four kills in a row. Nine of Serrano’s game-high of 15 kills came in the second set.
The Warriors closed out the match with a fast 25-16 win. Not only was the defense scrappy, but they tallied a couple of aces, a handful of blocks and a match-high team hitting percentage of .367.
Weesmont improved to 8-7 overall and 2-1 in the GSAC
