Kaitlyn Clemann recorded 19 kills on the day and SBCC split two matches on Saturday at the L.A. Pierce Quad women’s volleyball tourney.
The Vaqueros (4-1), ranked 7th in the state, suffered their first loss to No. 3 Grossmont 25-13, 25-8, 27-25 before bouncing back to sweep Citrus 25-16, 25-12, 25-14.
Clemann had 12 kills and hit .409 in the win over Citrus while Katelynn Womack had six kills. Paige Sabin notched five kills and hit a sizzling .714. Lea Michaels added four kills and a .375 hitting percentage.
Madelon Leiphardt had 12 digs and four aces. Eryn Young added 10 digs.
Clemann had a team-high seven kills in the first match. Womack contributed five kills and seven digs while Taylor Badois had six kills and two solo blocks. Jane Petricka notched five service aces.
The Vaqueros will host Irvine Valley, the team that knocked them out of the playoffs in last year’s Southern Cal Finals, on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
