SBCC lost a tough 3-2 decision to No. 7 Golden West on Saturday morning, then fell to No. 16 Fullerton 3-1 in the Fullerton Quad women’s volleyball tournament.
The Vaqueros, ranked ninth in the state, fell to 4-3. They won the first two sets against Golden West but couldn’t get the clincher in a 17-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-15, 15-9 setback. Fullerton won a marathon third set on the way to a 25-21, 20-25, 31-29, 25-21 triumph.
Katelynn Womack had 11 kills against Golden West, Kaitlyn Clemann added 10 and Taylor Badois had nine. Madelon Leiphardt had 39 assists and 12 digs. Eryn Young was the dig leader with 16.
Clemann collected a season-high 16 kills and hit .344 vs. Fullerton. Womack had a double-double with 12 kills and 12 digs. Four others reached double figures in digs — Leiphardt (12), Young (11), Sydney Cantor (11) and Tristen Thompson (10).
The Vaqueros return home on Wednesday to take on Glendale at 5 p.m.
