Jon Lee experienced the Rocky Mountain high of winning at the Motherlode Beach Volleyball Tournament in Aspen, Colo.
Lee, the former volleyball coach at San Marcos High, won a Motherlode title for the fourth time in the 2000s. He and partner Dan Salyer of Los Osos defeated Chris Savard and Dennis Dempsey of Denver to capture the Motherlode Masters DIG Magazine National Championships Men’s 60s division during the Labor Day weekend.
Lee’s other titles came in 2011, 2003 and 2001. He finished second in the 50-over division in 2007.
The tournament has been going on for 42 years.
