Chloe Allen recorded a double-double, but it wasn’t enough for San Marcos in a non-league match volleyball match against a strong Harvard Westlake team on the road. The Royals fell in four sets, 25-22, 25-18, 21-25, 23-25.
Allen had 17 kills and 15 digs and served four aces. Anika Wilson added 13 kills and nine digs and Sarah Kang picked up nine digs against the Wolverines, the No. 10-ranked team in CIF Division 1AA. Royals setter Gabi Peoples dished out 48 assists.
Despite the loss, San Marcos coach Erica Menzel Downing was pleased how her team battled.
“They are very strong program,” she said of Harvard Westlake. “We lost in four but had some great moments. We competed after losing the first two matches and showed a lot of heart winning the third.”
The Royals (2-1) play this weekend at the San Luis Obispo Tournament.
