Gabi Peoples played a stellar match, dishing out 78 assists to lead San Marcos to a four-set win over visiting Hart on Thursday in a non-league girls volleyball match. The scores were 25-20, 22-25, 25-19, 25-13.
“Our sophomore setter ran a great offense,” said San Marcos coach Erica Menzel Downing. “It’s the best I have seen her play. She was getting four hitters involved. We will work on the fifth hitter. She is getting better every day.”
Chloe Allen led the hitting attack with 15 kills and a .380 percentage. Anika Wilson had 13 kills and hit. 340 and Emily Allen added eight kills. Peoples also contributed at the net with five kills in five attempts.
“Isabel Bassi came off the bench and earned us a few points with her serve and defense,” said Downing.
Defensively, Chloe Allen had nine digs, Sarah Kang picked up eight and Wilson collected five.
“We played with so much intensity and heart tonight, we never gave up on a ball and were very scrappy. It was a team effort tonight,” said Downing.
