Santa Barbara High’s volleyball team celebrated its homecoming on Thursday with a three-set sweep over Oxnard, 25-18, 25-14, 24-23.
“It was great being home after being on the road for so long,” Santa Barbara coach John Gannon said. “It was back to school night, so we had a good turnout.”
Those in attendance saw a balanced attack. Jessyca Beksa, Lourda Weger, Tatum Vedder and Katie Gallivan all posted eight kills. Lexi Rottman and Paige Mascari split the setting duties.
“It was a good match focus, but there’s definitely room for improvement,” Gannon said. “We’re 7-3 and doing OK.”
The Dons have a tough week coming up. On Tuesday, they host CIF Division 1-AA program Harvard Westlake and open Channel League on Wednesday at home against San Marcos. Both teams are ranked in Division 1-A, Santa Barbara at No. 5 and San Marcos at No. 8.
