Cate opened its girls volleyball season with a familiar opponent in a new league.
The Rams faced off against longtime rival Thacher and rolled to a 25-11, 25-12, 25-8 victory in their first match in the Frontier League.
Delaney Mayfield led the attack with 12 kills and a .500 hitting average. Peyton Shelburne added eight kills and five aces and Maddie Becker had six kills.
“We were a little shaky at the start. We have several new players on the team and they’re trying to figure each other out on the court,” said coach Greg Novak. “As the match went on, we could see improvement.”
