The two-time defending CIF champions from Carpinteria showed no signs of slowing down in their season opener on Wednesday as the Warriors defeated St. Bonaventure 18-0.
Makenna Pike and Kathryn Blair swept three sets each in singles while No. 1 Kelsie Bryant won a set in the first round before giving way to Azalea Kemp.
“St. Bonaventure was young and you could see them get better as the sets wore on which was encouraging. I think our experience was definitely a factor,” said Warriors head coach Charles Bryant.
Carpinteria was especially dominate in doubles, winning nine sets 54-0. Elie
Morgan/Madison Cleek and Natalie Saito/Merissa Souza led the way with 3-0 performances.
Carpinteria(1-0) faces Rocklin next.
