Coming off its first loss of the season, the Carpinteria’s girls tennis team responded with a 12-6 victory over Bakersfield on Friday.
The Warriors’ No. 3 doubles team of Gabi Montes De Oca and Emily Saito won three sets together including a come-from-behind 7-5 victory.
The Warriors’ other sweep came from No. 1 singles player Kelsie Bryant. Madison Cleek and Makenna Pike captured 2-of-3 sets each. Pike rallied to win her second-round set 7-5, which head coach Charles Bryant noted was key to the team win.
Bryant said the team was battling some injuries.
“I was impressed with our efforts today and am just hoping we can stay healthy as we do not have a big roster but many banged up players,” Bryant reported.
Carpinteria improves to 3-1-1 and faces San Marcos on Monday.
