Santa Barbara High and San Marcos met in Tuesday’s Channel-League opener, a match won by the perennial-champion Dons 13-5.
Santa Barbara dominated the first two rounds allowing head coach Greg Tebbe to get 17 players court time.
Madison Hale and Cade Sorensen breezed to a pair of set wins. The doubles teams of Lexy Gulden/Marianna Alevra and Carolina Turri/Brooke Morison also claimed two points each for the Dons.
Last year’s Channel League singles champion Mattea Kilstofte won 6-0 in the opening round before getting a rest.
The Dons host Dos Pueblos on Thursday in both teams’ second league match.
All of San Marcos’ singles players – Julia Frohling, Renee Handley and Sarah Douglas – captured a set to earn a point for the Royals, who play Buena on Thursday.
Santa Barbara High, which went undefeated last year in league play, has won 35-straight league championships.
