Dos Pueblos freshman Bella Vigna came within one stroke of tying the school record for nine holes, shooting a 2-under par 33 in the Chargers’ 191-289 Channel League-opening win over Ventura at Glen Annie Golf Course on Tuesday.
Vigna just missed an 8-foot birdie putt on No.9 that would have equaled the school mark of 32. She tapped in for a par. Her score is the lowest on the team this season.
The 191 is DP’s best team score in two years, said coach Rob Schiff. “To be competitive at the CIF level, you have to shoot in the 180s or below. It’s encouraging to see us shooting a low score this early in the season. Can’t wait to get better.”
The Chargers showed good balance. Macy Broesamle was second on the team with a 38. She was followed by Mika Henrickson at 39, Megan Caird with a 40 and Jamie Sharpe and Miraya Ramirz both at 41.
