San Marcos girls’ golf team improved to 9-1 on Wednesday after a 224-299 non-league victory over Santa Ynez on the Alisal River Course.
“It was warm and breezy, but a beautiful day in the valley,” said Royals head coach Sarah Ashton.
Kelsey Gellert and MacKenzie McBride shared medalist honors by leading San Marcos with rounds of 42. Remi Ho (44), Lauren Pitchford (47), and Alex Pitchford (49) scored for the Royals.
San Marcos did well on the par-3 ninth hole. Ho knocked down a birdie while Gellert and McBride both carded one of their three pars on the hole.
Molly Callaghan’s 47 led the Pirates.
The Royals (9-1, 1-0) host Buena on Thursday at Sandpiper Golf Course in a Channel League match.
