Macy Broesamle shot a hole-in-one and Megan Caird and freshman Bella Vigna shared medalist honors for Dos Pueblos in a 203-264 non-league girls golf win over Rio Mesa at Glen Annie Golf Course on Thursday.
Broesamle’s ace came on No. 6. It was the first hole-in-one of her career and the first seen by DP coach Rob Schiff in his 10 years of coaching girls golf.
“It was really a neat thing to see girls from both schools so excited about such a great shot,” assistant coach Dan Choi said. “The girls might have broken a little golf course protocol as there was a lot of yelling and screaming after the ball dropped in the cup. Definitely a special high school sporting moment.”
Caird and Vigna each shot low rounds of 36.
The round for Caird was a big improvement over her opening match against Santa Ynez. She is the defending Channel League champion.
It was a fantastic start for Vigna, who was playing in her first high school match.
Senior Janey Vickers shot a career-low sore with a 48.
“The girls all feel confident that we are a good team, but they have their sights set on being a great team,” Choi said. “We all know that there is still a lot of hard work ahead to reach that goal.”
Dos Pueblos improves to 2-0 on the season. Rio Mesa is 1-1.
