Josh McGregor of Dos Pueblos took first place in his high school cross country debut, and the Chargers boys and girls teams finished in the top 10 Friday at the Seaside Invitational in Ventura.
McGregor won the freshman boys race in a 3-mile time of 15 minutes, 34 seconds. He was third on the team behind senior twin brothers Chris Wasjutin and Ian Wasjutin. Chris clocked 14:58 to finished sixth in the senior race and seventh overall, while Ian was timed in 15:15.
The DP boys placed sixth in the team standings. Great Oak won the team title.
The Charger girls came in fifth behind the individual top-10 finishes of sisters Natalie and Elaine McClure. Natalie ran 17:44.5 to place 15th overall and Elaine finished 18th in 18:03.
Great Oak placed five runners in the top 10 to run away with the girls team title.
In other results, Santa Barbara’s Ruth Hunter came in 12th in the girls sophomore race in 18:26.2. Will Walter took 32nd in the junior boys race with a personal best of 16:10.4.
