SBCC scored three goals in the first 20 minutes on Tuesday and went on to rout Hancock 8-0 in its WSC North women’s soccer opener in Santa Maria.
Kaitlyn Crooker scored 45 seconds into the match and finished with two goals and two assists. She leads the Vaqueros (4-3-1, 1-0) with six goals and three assists.
Jackie Hollmer found the net in the 13th minute on an assist by Crooker and Laura Romero made it 3-0 in the 20th minute with Sandy Grimaldo providing the helper.
Aimee Ryan came off the bench to score the fourth goal in the 40th minute on an assist from Sandy Grimaldo and the Vaqueros led 4-0 at intermission.
SBCC outshot the Bulldogs 37-1 and had 15 shots on goal compared to one.
“We got after them early and that’s what we were looking for,” said coach John Sisterson. “We emphasized going forward and hitting the target.”
Marissa Stone continued the offensive eruption in the 50th minute with a 30-yard shot off a pass from Sarah Jimenez. Crooker scored her second goal in the 70th minute with Astrid Thiel getting the assist.
Grimaldo made it 7-0 in the 75th minute with a bicycle kick off a pass from Crooker. Stone completed the scoring in the 79th minute with Thiel notching her second assist.
The Vaqueros will play their first home game under the lights on Friday when Oxnard at 7:30 p.m.
