Inri Cortez ran for three touchdowns and D’Shaun Vines caught a 40-yard scoring strike, leading San Marcos to its first victory of the season, a 28-10 decision at Hueneme on Friday night in Oxnard.
Cortez had touchdown runs of 11, 40 and 60 yards. He rushed for 148 yards in the game. Quarterback Sage Reid added 66 yards on the ground for the Royals (1-3).
Reid also hooked up with Vines on a couple of long pass plays.
The San Marcos defense stopped Hueneme on a fourth-and-goal from 3-yard line in the fourth quarter.
The Royals are 1-3 while Hueneme falls to 0-3.
