Former Cate School star Joshua Yaro has been selected to TopDrawerSoccer’s college soccer Preseason Best IX first team.
The staff of the soccer web site picked three teams. The players were selected based on previous performance in college soccer as well as anticipated success in the upcoming season.
Yaro, who led Cate to a pair of CIF championships, is entering his sophomore year at Georgetown. The defender started 17 matches last season for the Hoyas and was named to the TDS All-Freshman Team.
No UCSB players were named to the squad, but the Big West was represented by two players: Cal State Northridge forward Sagi Lev-Ari was picked to the first team and UC Irvine midfielder Mario Ortiz was a third-team selection.
TDS also named a Freshman Best IX, and UCLA recruit Abu Danladi of Dunn School was picked to the squad.
