It was another rough day for the lady Warriors at the Biola Volleyball/ Red Lion-Anaheim Summer Slam tournament. After going 0-2 yesterday, Westmont dropped two more starting with a 25-16, 25-20, 27-25 setback to Montana Tech.
The Warriors failed to rebound in a 25-16, 25-18, 26-24 loss to Concordia (Ore.).
While the Orediggers came out firing on all cylinders, tallying 15 kills in the first set, the Warriors struggled to find a rhythm. Once Montana Tech had the lead, they never let up. Throughout the entire match, there were only a couple of streaks where Westmont was able to pull ahead with the lead. They came out with some energy in the third set of the match, but ultimately fell to Montana tech 27-25.
The Warrior’s closed out the tournament with their final match against Concordia (Ore.). Westmont stepped into the lead in the first set, leading 6-2 but Concordia was able to rally back and gain momentum. The Cavaliers went on a 10-2 point run that spread the margin of game out a bit, ultimately winning the first set 25-16. While there were glimpses of positivity throughout the rest of the match, the Warriors were eventually shutout by the Cavaliers.
The Warriors’ offense was headed up by Sarah McGough who finished with a team high of 22 kills on the day.
The Warriors now hold a record of 0-5 for the season. Their next match up will be Thursday, August 29, at 8:00 a.m. in a match against Menlo. This will be the first of four matches played in the Asics/Wyndham Labor Day Classic at Concordia (Calif.)
