The Santa Barbara Foresters and Seattle Studs will be playing for the NBC World Series championship on Saturday as both teams won semifinal games on Friday in Wichita, Kansas.
It’s a matchup of recent champions as the Studs are the defending title holders while the Foresters – seeking their fifth trophy in franchise history – won the two years before that. Saturday’s championship game begins at 4 p.m. Pacific and can be heard locally on 1290 AM.
The Foresters defeated the NJCAA National team 6-1.
Jon Duplantier’s five innings of one-run ball kept NJCAA in check. Duplantier added five strikeouts to surpass Drew Van Orden for second place on the all-time Foresters single-season list with 74. Tim Schoeninger struck out 75 in 2004.
Santa Barbara (40-11-1) has won 4 of 5 games at the NBC World Series.
