Westmont Soccer has announced the signing of Kolby McInally from La Habra High School for the upcoming 2014 season.
An All-Freeway League first-team selection, McInally scored 12 goals for the Highlanders in his senior season and produced five assists.
“We are delighted to add Kolby to our incoming class,” said Westmont head coach Dave Wolf. “Kolby has worked very hard in all areas of his life to have arrived at this place. He’s a dangerous attacking player, and someone who will torment GSAC defenders. We have known Kolby for almost two years, and we are confident that he will take every advantage of the opportunity to come to Westmont.”
As a member of the Strikers FC Whittier, McInally travelled to Argentina to participate in the 2014 Buenos Aires International Soccer Tournament (BA Cup). The team finished third in the club team tournament.
“I chose to commit to Westmont because I felt like it had a lot to offer,” said McInally. “I have always believed in God but did not grow up going to church, so I am looking forward to learning more about my religion. In addition to being able to play the sport that I love, I am looking forward to the brotherhood of being a part of the soccer team. I am excited to see what the next four years at Westmont has in store for me.”
“Kolby is the final piece in a talented incoming class,” noted Wolf. “Most importantly, we feel that each of these incoming freshmen is a terrific fit for Westmont. Kolby has made it clear how much he wants to be here.”
Last April, Westmont announced the signing of six recruits who will also join the team this fall:
· Defender Josh Constant of Great Oak High School
· Forward Yazi Hernandez of Fullerton High School
· Midfielder Blake Homan of Vista High School
· Goalkeeper Spencer Petty of Amador Valley High School
· Defender Nathan Ruble of Clovis West High School
· Midfielder Trent Shaw of San Clemente High School
