Goleta Valley South pulled off an incredible comeback to win the District 63 Little League 12-Under All-Star Tournament on Wednesday.
The GVS Stars rallied from a 7-0 deficit and scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat rival Dos Pueblos 10-9 in the championship game.
Down 9-6, Issac Villareal led off the last inning with a walk and Anthony Martinez hit a hard ground ball that was misplayed. Jackson Haskell followed with an RBI single to get Goleta Valley South within two runs. Josh Swanson singled and Diego Sandoval walked to load the bases and Jacob Galindo followed with a line-drive hit over the right fielder’s head to clear the bases and give GVS the stunning walk-off victory.
Goleta Valley South advances to the sectional tournament in Thousand Oaks on Saturday.
Dos Pueblos jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first inning. Goleta Valley South went to relief pitcher Brent Hyman and he allowed only three hits and two runs in five innings of work.
Goleta Valley South chipped away at the DP lead, scoring one run in the second inning, four in the third and one in the fifth.
