Stamatia Scarvelis finished in fourth place in the shot put at the USA Track and Field Junior Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., on Saturday.
The Dos Pueblos High grad and UCLA-bound Scarvelis threw 50-0.50.
Raven Saunders, the national prep leader from South Carolina, won the competition with a throw of 55-10.25. Aaliyah Pete of Colorado State was second at 53-7 and Katelyn Daniels of Michigan State took third at 50-2.
Saunders’ winning mark came on her last attempt of the competition. She went 54-9.25 on her previous throw.
By winning, Saunders qualifies for the USA team that will compete in the IAAF World Junior Championships, which will be held in Oregon next week.
Scarvelis’ best mark came on her fifth throw. It was her only 50-foot throw on the day. Her other marks were 49-5.50, 48-8.75, 49-2.25, 47-7 and 49-3.
