It was an off day off from the World Cup on Thursday, but there was international soccer being played in Goleta.
San Marcos High’s frosh-soph and varsity boys soccer teams played against squads from Grammar High School of Leeds, England at Girsh Park.
The San Marcos varsity lost a 1-0 decision. Grammar scored the lone goal in the second half.
In the first game, Grammar’s younger team, made up mostly 16 year olds, defeated the San Marcos frosh-soph, 6-2. Christian Dominguez and Carlos Mendoza scored for the Royals.
After the last match, the boys joined together to share a barbecue with hot dogs and all the fixings.
The England boys head next for several more matches in L.A. and San Diego before heading home.
