Thirteen Santa Barbara Foresters traveled to the MLB Academy baseball complex in Compton on Wednesday for the California Collegiate League’s mid-season All-Star Game, which was called after 11 innings with the score deadlocked 4-4.
The Foresters, representing the South team, were big contributors in the game. Entering the bottom of the ninth inning trailing 4-3, Foresters catcher Jeremy Montalbano delivered a clutch RBI double to score fellow ‘Ster Jake Vickerson.
Colt Atwood and Granger Studdard scored runs in the 5th inning as Santa Barbara players plated three of the South’s four runs.
Jon Duplantier, Matt Withrow, and Vickerson made pitching appearances on the mound for the South team.
Also making the CCL All-Star game from Santa Babrara were Jaylin Davis and Dillon Dobson (Appalachian State), Andrew Lantrip (University of Houston), Jon Woodcock (Virginia Tech), Bret Boswell (University of Texas), AJ Kennedy (Cal State Fullerton), and Sam Odom (Sam Houston State).
The North squad out-hit the South 12 to 8, with Dylan Cook providing a pair of hits and a run scored for the North. Studdard was the lone player on the South team with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 with a run scored.
The game was televised live by Fox Sports West, and will be replayed at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
