Westmont senior Tim Goranson was named to the NAIA All-American first team. Goranson posted a singles record of 16-3 this season and a doubles record of 17-3.
Seniors Rodrigo Schaefer and John Bertram along with junior Joshua Barnard received NAIA All-American honorable mention recognition.
Goranson, Schaefer and Barnard were also named Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Americans. The ITA national honors are awarded to those who finish in ITA singles-players top-20 ranking or doubles-players top-10.
Additionally, Bertram was named to the first team of the 2014 Capital One Academic All-American Men’s At-Large Team in the College Division. In addition to tennis, the at-large division includes athletes from swimming, wrestling, golf and volleyball. Bertram was chosen for his success both on the tennis court and in the classroom. On the court, he was 13-8 in singles play and 16-3 in doubles. Bertram is a chemical physics major with a 3.89 GPA.
Bertram and Barnard were also honored as both NAIA and Golden State Athletic Conference Scholar-Athletes. Barnard, who holds a 3.53 GPA as a kinesiology major, was also honored for his character when he represented Westmont men’s tennis as a Champion of Character Award recipient.
