Stratman sisters earn All-American honors

Westmont College sophomore Lauren Stratman has been selected to the NAIA All-American first team in women’s tennis.

Stratman, a Dos Pueblos High alum,  posted a record of 21-2 playing at No. 1 singles and 16-8 at No. 1 doubles. She and her younger sister, Kate, were named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American team for doubles. Kate, a freshman and DP alum, posted a doubles record of 14-8, playing mostly at No. 1  doubles with her sister.

Kate Stratman also was recognized as the “ITA Rookie Player of the Year” for the West while Lauren was named the “ITA Player to Watch” in the West.

Also recognized by the ITA was junior Emily Keach as the winner of the “ITA/Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sportsmanship and Leadership Award” for the West. Keach was also honored as both an NAIA and Golden State Athletic Conference Student-Athlete.

Assistant Coach Jennie Wood, who played for the Warriors from 2005-2008, was named the “ITA Assistant Coach of the Year” for her contribution to the Warrior program this season.

Also receiving recognition was junior Alyson Meyer who was named the Champions of Character representative from Westmont.
