Sam Odom had an impressive debut on the mound, and the Santa Barbara Foresters supported him with plenty of offense in a 12-0 win over the Walnut Creek Crawdads in a California Collegiate League baseball game on Saturday at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.
Odom, who joined the Foresters after pitching for Sam Houston State, threw seven scoreless innings, struck out five and allowed only three hits.
Granger Studdard led the offense with two doubles, a single and three RBIs.
The Foresters broke the game open in the fourth inning with four runs on five hits. After reaching on a single, leadoff batter Colt Atwood scored on a wild pitch. Jaylin Davis, Jake Vickerson, and David Greer also scored in the inning. Greer came home on a 0-2 double over the left fielder’s head by Studdard.
Atwood led off the fifth inning with a single, stole his 11th base of the yearand came home on a single to right by Vickerson.
The Foresters capitalized on a throwing error and added two more runs in the sixth to lead 6-0. The erupted for five runs in the eighth.
Odom pitched seven scoreless innings and didn’t give up a hit after the fifth inning.
