The Foresters pounded 15 hits and roared to an 8-0 lead after five innings en route to a 16-8 rout of the Santa Paula Halos in a California Collegiate League game on Tuesday at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.
Dillon Dobson belted a two-run homer and drove in four runs to lead Santa Barbara’s offense.
Jon Woodcock pitched seven solid innings to pick up the win. He allowed two hits and one run, while striking out eight. Jeremy Montalbano and Jaylin Davis struggled in relief, combing to give up seven runs.
Dobson got the Foresters going in the first inning, ripping a line drive down the right-field line to drive in Jaylin Davis and Grant Davis. Dobson advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on a groundout by Granger Studdard.
Vance Vizcaino scored on an error in the fourth inning for a 4-0 lead.
Santa Barbara led 8-1 in the fifth before erupting for eight runs in the sixth inning. Highlights included a RBI triple by Studdard, a Colin Yelich three-run triple, a run-scoring double to deep center by Grant Davis and Dobson’s two-run homer.
“It was a good day; we were firing on all cylinders,” Foresters manager Bill Pintard said. “We didn’t have a great offensive performance the other day, but that’s called bouncing back.”
