SANTA BARBARA, June 27, 2014 – Domestic Violence Solutions (DVS), Santa Barbara’s only full-service domestic violence agency, is proud to announce Julie Capritto and Julie Anne Ruggieri as the committee co-chairs for its first annual 5K Run for Love. The run will take place on Saturday, November 1st at 9:00AM at Goleta Beach.
DVS Run for Love co-chair Julie Capritto is also the incoming board president for DVS and has served on the board of directors since 2012. As chief operating officer and senior vice president for AGIA Affinity Services, Ms. Capritto oversees all aspects of the company’s core operations including customer relations, finance, information technology and human resources. Her 35-year background includes managing finance and administrative operations in the public, nonprofit and private sectors.
A Santa Barbara native, Ms. Capritto holds a bachelor’s degree in business economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). She is a member of the Women’s Fund of Santa Barbara, where she is currently serving as membership co-chair, the UCSB Alumni Association where she serves as co-chair of the All Gaucho Reunion, and also serves on the Corporate Philanthropy Roundtable Advisory and Steering Committees. Ms. Capritto is a past board member of Friends of VADA Santa Barbara High School, Santa Barbara Middle School and the Santa Barbara County Parks Foundation. For 24 years she has been married to her husband Paul, and they are blessed with three grown children, Matthew, Antonya and Lauren.
DVS Run for Love co-chair Julie Anne Ruggieri has worked as a legal assistant/paralegal for more than two decades. Ms. Ruggieri serves as a board member/secretary for the Italian American Boot Club of Santa Barbara and is a member of the Santa Barbara Young Professionals Club. She ran her first marathon four years ago and has been hooked on distance running ever since (although finding time to run is a constant challenge). Ms. Ruggieri has a long list of theatre credits to her name, having participated in local theatre productions for more than thirty years, and is a published author. A Santa Barbara County native, she has been happily married for almost 19 years and has two children.
Registration for the 5K Run/Walk for Love is limited to 250 runners/walkers. Participants can register as an individual, join or create a team, or register as a fundraiser/volunteer by the October 1, 2014 deadline. To register, please visit DVSrunforlove.org.
