Once the hitting started, there was no stopping the Foresters in the seventh inning of Sunday’s series finale against the Walnut Creek Crawdads.
Santa Barbara scored eight runs with two outs in the seventh and rallied for a 10-6 win in a California Collegiate League baseball game at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium.
Down 5-2, the Foresters caught fire, banging out eight hits. After Reggie Southall and Ford Stainback reached base on a fielder’s choice and a single, respectively, Grant Davis singled to center to score Southall and advance Stainback to third. Jaylin Davis followed with a two-run bloop single to tie the score at 5-5.
Cleanup batter Jeremy Montalbano and Granger Studdard both singled to score Jaylin Davis for the go-ahead run, and Montalbano came home on a wild pitch.
A.J. Balta, who made the first out of the inning, singled to right to score Studdard for an 8-5 lead. In his second at-bat of the inning, Southall dropped a hit into left field to bring home two more runs.
Santa Barbara’s fifth straight win improves its records to 16-3 overall and 14-3 in the CCL.
