The Santa Barbara Elite Sand Volleyball Club is launching a summer club program, giving girls the opportunity to play competitive beach volleyball with the best collective talent within their age group, receive instruction from a beach coaching staff, and travel to tournaments up and down the California coast.
The club will be holding tryouts for its Elite Team and Training Team at East Beach on May 27 and June 1, from 3 to 5 p.m. The tryouts are free.
The Elite Team for each age division (14s, 16s, and 18s) will consist of eight girls selected by the coaching staff. They will travel to tournaments in Southern California on the AAU Youth Tour, CBVA Rox Tour, and USA Jr. Beach circuit. Practices will take place twice per week and will focus on advanced 2-on-2 skills.
The Training Team will also be divided by age division and will focus on learning the basics of the beach game with a focus on doubles beach volleyball. Ten girls per age division will be selected for the Training Team roster and will practice two to three times per week, depending on the amount of girls participating.
More details about the program will be distributed at the tryouts.
