SBCC’s Rachelle Visser took third in the 200 individual medley on Friday on Day 2 of the CCCAA State Swimming and Diving Championships at East LA College in Monterey Park.
Visser, a freshman from Holland, shaved nearly eight seconds off her seed time while taking third in the prelims. She swam 2:10.94 to finish third in the final.
Kaili Faust was seventh in the 50 breaststroke in 30.52.
Santa Barbara placed eighth in the 800 free relay in 8:08.67, nearly nine seconds faster than their seed time. Janina Schulz, Sienna Van Alphen, Emily Foster and Visser received medals for finishing in the top eight.
The Vaqueros’ 200 medley relay of Autumn Lovett, Foster, Visser and Schulz won the consolation heat and placed ninth in 1:52.59. Their time was faster than three teams in the finals.
With just six swimmers, the Vaqueros racked up 68 points on Friday. They’re currently 13th out of 36 teams in their first appearance at the State Championships.
Orange Coast leads the women’s field with 300 points, followed by Diablo Valley (295) and Santa Rosa (279).
