Carpinteria’s Noah Reed and Chris Fedderson won Tri-Valley League championships at the league swim finals on Thursday at Villanova.
Reed captured the 500 freestyle in 5:14.78 and Fedderson won the 100 breaststroke in 1:08.72 to lead the Carpinteria boys team. The Warriors finished fourth in the team standings with 351 points. Oaks Christian, competing in its last TVL meet, won with 460 points.
Cate grabbed second with 363 points and Villanova was third with 355 points.
Carpinteria swimmers earned several runner-up finishes. The 200 medley relay team of Thomas Fly, Sal Briceno, Malek Mehai and Fedderson clocked 1:49.99. Fly was second in the 100 free (51.94) and Casey Walter finished behind Reed in the 500 free (5:22.81).
Warriors taking third included Mehai in the 100 fly (59.07), Fly in the 100 back (1:01.28) and the 400 free relay team of Fly, Fedderson, Briceno and Mehai in 3:33.47.
The Carpinteria girls finished fourth with 224 points. La Reina won the meet with 426 followed by Oaks Christian (412), Cate (360), Carpinteria and Villanova (192).
Brenda Rodriguez was the Warriors’ best finisher with a second place in the 500 free (5:45.23). Allison Wagner was third in the 200 free (2:07.60) and 100 free (59.19); Leticia Cruz placed third in the 500 free (5:52.50), and the 200 free relay team of Rodriguez, Kelly Griffin, Sierra Garibay and Wagner grabbed third in 1:53.60.
