San Marcos couldn’t come up with the big hit and dropped a 3-0 softball decision against Ventura in a Channel League softball game on Friday.
“We loaded the bases in the fourth and fifth innings but couldn’t get the extra hit to bring a run home,” said San Marcos coach Jeff Swann.
Ventura also foiled the Royals with two inning-ending double plays on line drives.
San Marcos pitcher Hailee Rios had 8 strikeouts in the loss. Stephanie Swann was 2 for 4.
San Marcos fell to 1-9 in league and 9-15 overall. Ventura is 7-3, 10-9.
San Marcos is home vs Santa Barbara on Tuesday and at Santa Barbara on Wednesday.
