San Marcos celebrated its Senior Day with an 11-2 softball win over Santa Barbara on Wednesday.
The Royals recognized senior players Stephanie Swann, Lyana Gonzalez, Sabrina Gonzalez, Claudia Herrera and Sandra Trujillo.
San Marcos blew the game open in the fifth inning, sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring five runs. Claudia Herrera had a two-run double.
The Royals had one of their biggest days at the plate, rapping 17 hits. Swan was 4-for-5 with three runs scored. Veronica Villarreal also went 4-5 and scored a run. Alex Pitchford had three hits and two RBIs, Cara Christian also drove in a pair of runs and had two hits and Lyana Gonzalez had two hits and a RBI.
Freshman pitcher Hailee Rios struck out 10 for the Royals (10-15, 2-9 league).
San Marcos did suffer a blow when Trujillo was injured in a collision at first base with a Santa Barbara baserunner. She sat out the rest of the game.
