Dos Pueblos’ offense put five runs on the scoreboard in the first inning on Tuesday, and pitchers Maddie Pickett and Lani Evans did the rest by shutting out Lompoc in a 5-0 victory.
Pickett started the game and allowed one hit in four innings while striking out six. Evans came in to pitch the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. All nine outs recorded by Evans were by strikeout.
Melissa Spink recorded two of DP’s four hits. The Chargers scored their five runs in the first inning on four walks, two defensive errors, and a HBP.
Dos Pueblos (19-5, 9-1) have two regular season games remaining next week with Ventura before beginning CIF.
