Carpinteria’s Natalie Saito drove in two runs and pitched a five-hitter, leading the Warriors to a 4-2 win over Santa Clara in a Tri-Valley League softball game on Thursday.
Saito singled in Scarlett Pettine, who doubled in the fourth inning, Teagan Singer followed with a single to drive in Saito to tie the score at 2-2.
Carpinteria (6-20, 3-8) scored twice more in the sixth. Pettine singled, Sierra Diaz reached base on a bunt and the throw was wild to first, allowing Pettine to score the go-ahead run. Saito drove in Diaz with a single.
“We played solid defense and effective offense to come from behind and get the win,” said Carpinteria coach Henry Gonzalez.
