Santa Barbara Soccer Club’s 18s win SoCal State Cup

Abu Danladi - Soccer

Abu Danladi, recently named the Gatorade National Boys Soccer Player of the Year, is on the Santa Barbara Soccer Club roster.

Santa Barbara Soccer Club’s U18 Boys team was recently crowned the SoCal State Cup champions after defeating DMS11 4-2 in the championship match on May 12.

The SBSC team outscored their opponents by 26 goals in the tournament, finishing with a goal differential of 30-4.  College coaches continue to show a high level of interest in the SBSC players as they complement the teams technically-sound, entertaining style of play.

SBSC will be traveling to Alberquerque, NM in June to compete in the next leg of the National Cup Series, the Far West Regionals.

The team is comprised of the top players from high schools throughout the local counties. The team is led by team captains Robbie Landeros (San Marcos HS), Pepe Barron (Santa Barbara HS) and Abu Danladi  (Dunn HS).  Landeros & Barron have played together on this team since they were in the U10 division. During this time they have won at every tier of competitive club soccer including Bronze, Silver, Silver Elite, Gold, Premier, & Flight 1.

The team is coached by Rudy Ybarra and assisted by Jesus Landeros. Ybarra will also have the two-time defending National Champion U16 boys at Far West Regionals in Alberquerque.
