Luke Speier allowed two hits in five innings and Nolan Tooley finished out the game, as Bishop Diego blanked Nordhoff 3-0 in a Tri-Valley League baseball game on Friday.
The two pitchers combined on a three-hitter.
The Cardinals scored two runs in the second inning and added the third run in the sixth. Matt Shotwell’s base hit drove in RJ Cordiero for the first run. Anthony Lopez executed a squeeze play to score Shotwell.
Cordiero went 3-for-3 with a double.
In the sixth, Scott Mandrell singled, stole second and third and came home on a squeeze bunt by Cole Atelian.
Bishop coach Dan Yokabitis said, “Defensively, it was our best effort this season.”
