Gabe Grandcolas picked up his seventh win of the season, and Santa Barbara beat San Marcos 5-3 in the Channel League baseball finale on Thursday at San Marcos.
The senior lefthander allowed three runs on seven hits in five innings of work. He struck out five and walked one. Trevor Moropoulos pitched the last two innings to earn his second save.
The Dons scored once in the first inning on consecutive singles by Skyler Sabado, Grandcolas and Daniel McKinney. They added a run in the third and two runs in the fourth on a Grandcolas two-run double, to take a 4-1 lead.
The Royals came within a run in the fifth. After two outs, a Parker Rozenburg single, a walk, David Foster’s single, and a wild pitch brought in a run.
Santa Barbara (17-9, 8-4) will await the CIF Division 2 draw on Monday.
