Dos Pueblos was hurt by mistakes and pitching wildness and dropped a 9-2 decision against Pacifica in Garden Grove in the first round of the CIF Division 2 baseball playoffs on Thursday.
“We walked six and committed five errors to add to their nine hits, DP coach Nick Katzenstein said. “That’s like giving up 20 hits.”
The Chargers scored in the first inning. Dustin Demeter reached on an error, went to third on a double by Luke Coffey and came home on a sacrifice by Daniel Buratto.
Pacifica scored four runs in the third inning on four singles, a walk and a run that brought in three runs. It tallied four more runs in the sixth.
Dos Pueblos picked up its second run in the fifth when Coffey doubled, went to third on a Buratto single and scored on a sacrifice fly by Michael Boelter.
